- What is BaZi (八字)?
- BaZi, the Four Pillars of Destiny, is the snapshot of the sky at your birth — four pairs of a heavenly stem and earthly branch for the year, month, day, and hour. It's the foundation of Chinese astrology.
- Is this BaZi calculator free?
- Yes. Enter your birth date (and optionally time and place) and you get your full four-pillar chart, the five-element balance, and a plain-language reading — at no cost.
- Why does my birth time and city matter?
- The hour pillar depends on true solar time — the real position of the sun at your birthplace, set by longitude and the equation of time — not the clock. Without an accurate time and place, the hour pillar can be wrong.
- What's the difference between BaZi and the Chinese zodiac animal?
- The zodiac animal is just your year pillar — one of eight characters. BaZi reads all four pillars together, which is why two people born the same year can have very different charts.
